Pineapple Hat ver 0.10


Pattern for a hat that looks like a pineapple:

(Caution!!! This has been written from memory, and has not been test knit by anyone else. This may make no sense whatsoever)

Size: Child, (Ladies), Mens
Aprox- 15", 18", and 21" around (Ladies size stretches to fit a 21" head nicley)
Matrerials:
1 skein each Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Bulky (125 yds/113gms) (only ~1/2 skein of each is used)
- yellow
- green

1 size 10.5 16" circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge)
1 set size 10.5 double pointed needles
tapestry needle
(optional) 20 gauge jewelery wire and wire cutters/pliers

Gauge: 3.5 sts/inch

Stitches used:
Modified 2x2 ribbing: (odd number of stitches)
round 1: k1(p2k2p2)around

Seed stitch: (odd number of stitches)
row 1: k1p1 across
row 2: k1p1 across

Pattern:

CO 55, 65, (75) stitches, with yellow yarn, and place marker at begining of round and join.
Work 5 rounds of modified 2x2 rib decreasing 2 stitches in the last round

Work lace pattern as follows:

Lace pattern: (accommodated for knitting in the round from The Harmony Guide to lace & eyelets)

round 1- k2, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo *k1, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo; rep from * to end
round 2- k4 *p5, k5; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4
round 3- k3, *yo, ssk, k3, k2tog, yo, k3; rep form * to end
round 4- k5, *p3, k7; rep from * to last 8 sts, p3, k5
round 5- k4, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo *k5, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4
round 6- k6, *p1,k9; rep from * to last 7 sts, p1, k6
round 7- k5, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, *k7, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo; rep from * to last 5 sts, k5
round 8- knit all stitches
round 9- k4, k2tog, yo, k1,yo, ssk, *k5, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4
round 10- p4, *k5,p5; rep from * to last 9 sts, k5, p4
round 11- k3, *k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k3; rep from * to end
round 12- *p3, k7; rep from * to last 3 sts, p3

round 20- k5, *p3, k7; rep from * to last 8 sts, p3, k5

round 24- knit all stitches (on this row place a marker after stitch 16, 31, and 45)

Decreases:
Work next 2 rounds 5, 6,(8) times for a total of 12 rounds
round 1-*k2tog, k to 2 sts before next marker, ssk; rep from * to end
round 2- knit all stitches
after last round, break yarn and pull through remaining stitches.

Fronds: (make 8)
With green yarn, CO 5 sts
Work back and forth in seed stitch until desired length (either 3" or 6")
next row, ssk, k1, k2tog
k3
break yarn and draw through remaining sts.

Making up:
(optional) Cut length of wire to the length of the frond, and thread through purl bumps on one side. Make loops on the ends.

Weave in all ends, and sew fronds to hat.

Place hat on head, then saunter around like you own the place.

I always have 2 stitches left over at the end of 1st lace row. I did decrease 2 in the last row of ribbing. I am starting with 65. I don't understand what is wrong
